Will, Power of Attorney and Healthcare Surrogate
Life is full of unexpected surprises. The best way to plan for your future is to prepare for it. At Vu Legal P.A., we can help you prepare for life’s difficult moments. Are you concerned about having the correct medical decisions made on your behalf, should you no longer be able to communicate those wishes? What do you do when a loved one passes and there is no will? We can help you file in Probate court to distribute the property. Do you have children whom would need to be cared for if something happened to you? You can designate a guardian in a Will, so that you will you know your children will always be cared for.

  • Wills

A will is a legal document tells the world exactly where you want your assets distributed when you die, without it, you will have no say in what happens to your property. It can involve designating a guardian for young children, and how you want your property and other assets transferred after your death. Your assets can include your investments, retirement savings, insurance policies, jewelry, and real estate or business interests.

  •  Power of Attorney

Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows you to appoint someone you trust, called an agent, to act on your own behalf in matters concerning your private affairs. These private affairs may include legal matters, real estate transactions, and other business affairs. A Power of Attorney allows your agent to enter into business agreements, pay bills, manage your real estate, and sign documents on your behalf among other duties.

  • Healthcare surrogate

While every competent adult has the right to make decisions concerning his or her own health, including the right to choose or refuse medical treatment, they may not always have the ability to convey those wishes. Designating a Healthcare Surrogate allows an individual to appoint someone who will represent your interests with the doctors if you become incapacitated.

  • Probate

Probate is the legal process that a deceased person’s estate passes through to make sure property is distributed in accordance with a will or if there is no will, then according to the laws of the state. The probate process can take a while to complete as the validity of the will must be established, all heirs, creditors and others who have a vested interest in the deceased’s property must be notified of the decedent’s passing and any disputes over the will must be resolved in probate court.
